Ding Dong...IRS Calling

IRS Calling

Paypal Related: Sigh...just got off the phone~ about the 1099K stuff and my SS# Posted by Debwest on 10/21/2011, 11:20 am 98.124.91.x

Ok..I got the dreaded email from Paypal requesting my tax identification number. So....being the stubborn thing that I am, I called and asked questions because I did NOT want to give Paypal any tax identification information at all. My Paypal is not a revenue stream it supports my doll habit. So, I asked questions and got some valid answers:

1) Why are there confusing statements about what the IRS rules mean on your website. When you are notified about the need for the Tax information there is a banner notice placed on your account. When you open the banner it gives two caveats about the reason for the infomation
a) $20K in gross payment volume for goods or services
b) 200 payments for goods or services. When you query the Paypal site for IRS you pull up the following statements
a) $20K in gross payment volume from sales of goods or services in a single year
b) 200 payments for goods or services in the same year. The "Specialist in IRS questions" told me...yes, that is true. We had a nice discussion about how those statements were both from the Paypal site and they were in conflict with each other. She did not understand why I felt them to be conflicting. I explained: one statement declares you look at gross payment volumes of sales of goods and services

(this would be money received for transactions)

The other statement declares you look at gross payment volumes for goods or services (this would be gross transactions buying and selling) She finally understood my point. She agreed that the statements were conflicting and definately confusing. I also pointed out that the 200 payments in both areas could be interpreted as transactions (buying and selling). She said that the 200 payments were for received payments. I suggested that Paypal consider changing the language to keep the statements from being confusing. If Paypal would add the word "received" then there would be much less confusion. Because I was very specific with my concerns and was able to point out the exact language in the two areas on the Paypal website, she filed a report to clarify the language used.

What the IRS and PayPal are using as the guideline for Paypal reporting the 1099K is the following: a) $20K in gross payments received from the sales of goods or services b) 200 received payments for goods and services You must meet BOTH criteria for Paypal to generate the 1099K The next part of our discussion was also relevant because it concerned giving my tax identification number to Paypal. Beginning January 1, 2012 Paypal will require your tax identification number if you use your paypal account to sell items. In other words, if you receive any money at all in the category of goods or services you will need to provide your tax identification number. If you are not willing to provide the information, Paypal will take action to prevent you from using the account to receive money.

I didn't ask how they intended to do that. The specialist was more than happy to provide me with my running total of my received gross volume so I could decide whether to stop using paypal until the January 1 refresh. I am in no danger of meeting that standard  whew.

Thank you to Prego and debwest for this Vital information and I urge you to click onward to thread which follows with much more information on this very important but political topic.

My DATE with SAGE

My Destiny with Sage

I awoke as if yesterday were a total DREAM soon to realize it was not.  When we (Sage and I) got home last night after leaving your beautiful home,  I ended up talking with my partner all night about what we had discussed and how we hope to become fast friends since our recent connection on Ebay.  He knowing how much such a doll costs and I using the old "It's my birthday" ploy as a reason for such an extravagant purchase.

With Sage all boxed up and ready to transport my thoughts though a bit "evil" wanted to have some fun with my patiently awaiting partner.  Deciding too not say a WORD about SAGE to him.  Cruel maybe but I just wanted to see who would break first. Would my excitement get the best of me  or would his curiosity get the better of him.

So as I walked in the door I strategically placed Sage's box on the couch directly in front of him all night into today. This had to or must of made him curious, or maybe furious?  You will soon read.  Jump ahead to today at 2:25pm this afternoon.

Out of the blue he asks

"So what did you buy?"

Laughing at him I coyly reply
 "you mean you didn't PEEK"

he replies
"Peek into what"

I groan
 "You've got to be kidding"

he replies
"Stop it!  Let me see"

I opened her beautiful box trying not to startle her ever so carefully lifting the pale pink tissue paper to the left and the other to the right.  Taking my hand down to greet her and slowly wrapping each finger around her perfect body as if I were King Kong picking up Faye Wray.  Remembering your lesson in sYbarite etiquette as to not let her knees bang together for if she was to crack "I rue the day" this area would be a hard injury for her to recover.  So I slowly handed her to him soon thereafter he was TRANSFIXED unable to move or even breathe for a whole 30 seconds. You may laugh but this is a big deal because he said not a word, only stared into her gaze and come hither attitude as if he were straight again.

OMG I am writing like Jackie Collins.

Anyway back to her, after he said she was beautiful (duh!!) I then grabbed my FDQ photography book where you showed me what Sage the Fashion Victim looked like before you raped her (kidding:) like a proud stage mother I offered him a glimpse into her shady world as a top model in London.

Laughing manically as I screamed out LOUD

SHE is MINE...SHE is ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Thank you and I look forward to sharing more with the new friends I have made this last month. This is for you.

For those of you wondering what happened to me this last week I can honestly say it has been a week I will never forget.  You may know I was new to the whole doll forum scene asking all kinds of novice questions about 16 inch, 14 inch, 12 inch, Resin, Silkstone, Ball Jointed, Barbie, Avant Guards, Fashion royalty, Jamieshow, Jason, Paul, Robert, WU, Pham, Best and finally a goal I had set for myself  some years ago to actually own A sYbarite Doll.

So many of you did send me Emails giving me advice and in the short month I spent on the many informative, helpful, supportive, and sometimes "catty" Doll forums asking those questions seemed to always boil down to just one answer, choosing a doll really is a personal choice.  I was told you will know if the doll speaks to you, or if you are able to connect with her/him when buying a doll.  Some of you buy to repaint/create visions only you could dream, others trade as fast as they buy, while most gave me the feeling of how much they love each and everyone of their dolls.

This was my aha moment.  I love all my Barbies and will always love her first and foremost. But it has been a very exciting ride to my Destiny with Sage especially since I had never touched nor seen on in person.  It was so hard to take advice like I listed above because a photo no matter how good it is does not compare to the touch, looking into a dolls eyes before you decide.  So to my amazement and some Divine Intervention it was truly a miracle to have found you, Sages prior owner who all this time not only was selling a perfect "nude" sage but had a litter of sYbarites all to himself right here about 10 miles from my HOME.  So I will end this October 25th, 2010 story with a smile, a gorgeous doll, and now a new Friend.  Making friends AND buying dolls who knew.
