FOCUS!!!
Realizing my entire day was surfing the FS: For Sale in Sybarite Clubs online along with all the doll boards, and Ebay. My collection was growing, yes but I was not enjoying them. Don't get me wrong I love them it was just I didn't want to take them out of the box until I had all the "stuff" I wanted. So from dolls my focus shifted to all the clothing and accessories. When they would arrive I would look to be sure they were without flaw and closed the box and put them away.
Never truly enjoying the moment or trying them on one of my girls. I started to put them in a pile keeping them in order, awaiting the day I would play.
Then I would get side-tracked on Photography/Lighting for my Sybarites, spend a few weeks and dollars on getting all that in order awaiting for the day I would play.
It was after a 5 hour tour of Hobby Lobby Craft Store looking and buying everything one would need for sewing, building, molding, and creating Jewelry for my Sybarites all in order awaiting for the day I would Play.
Having A.D.H.D amongst other things have always been a struggle to find something I truly enjoy and stick to it. I have a habit of starting many things and finishing not one. Then there is my addictive nature. If you were to look up addictions my photo would appear.
This addiction to the Sybarites or obsession to own all of them at first I thought it was the novelty of a 16 inch doll after owning so many Barbie dolls. No this was stronger like I had been hypnotized by their beauty telling me, convincing me to buy only SUPERFROCK, FBR, etc as nothing else would be good enough.
But then again this is the very definition of Sybarites:
1. often sybarite A person devoted to pleasure and luxury; a voluptuary.
When I found out a few months ago Jim was selling all of his collection and moving on from Sybarites he offered me his display cabinets for FREE and of his 10 I asked for 3 and he brought them and set them up at our home. Plus with what he had left I got at a great price on more "stuff" actually I am still paying off some.
Sure it is cool to get "stuff" for free but something I found in my quest for Sybarites was a cool new friendship with Jim something I never expected along the way. This is the best part of Collecting dolls, or so I have learned in knowing Jim.
When my partner David and I had Rolex ( a 12 year old capuchin Monkey raised from 2 weeks old) we had Monkey Club. When Rolex Died two years ago, (don't get me started) my world became dark and unbearable. Trying to find JOY in my life led me to the Sybarites.
If this post says anything it would have to be "community" "joy" and "living in the moment". Jim basically laid it out for me that afternoon breakdown was if I am just collecting for the sake of having then what is the point? Why spend so much money on something you seem to not be enjoying.
Not everyone has to "play" with their dolls, some buy them as they are and display them to be appreciated never thinking of dewigging them or changing them. My original fear was "breaking them" and looking at them as an investment. But after I got my second doll Inque I knew I one day would be photographing and playing with them all the time.
So in closing, what was suppose to be a response in Sybeau Monde to a post I had made about a broken hand sybarite turned out to be this story which I felt needed to be shared across my many blogs. If you can relate to just part of my story I am here to witness to you that when you do finally decide to debox, take out, de wig, change their clothes, photograph them, sew outfits, make accessories, and display them you are in for the TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!!
This book is worth every penny and teaches you how to take better photographs.

IT'S A SEVILLE!
Oh my lord in heaven could this girl exceed my expectations and will she lure me away from my beloved 1st Sybarite and online namesake Sage?
THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION is a TIE.
I am over the moon on getting Seville from a very kind surrogate seller who allowed me to do a 3 month payout. This is important to note the Sybarite community have been helpful, supportive, and have networked with other Doll communities.
Which for a 1st time or in my case switching into a brand new doll line collector is PRICELESS. Ask and sometimes you receive is what I have observed.
Having experienced some elitist attitudes and "busy bodied" individuals at the start of my adventure selling my Barbie collection it was a breath of fresh air and relief meeting the Sybarite collectors.
Collecting dolls is the common thread the community all shares but for some it is treating their dolls as better than others which frankly I find sad. This quality some disguise as passion is and can come across cold and cruel.
I don't want to end this post on something negative when Seville just arrived, however it is a prime example at how meeting online or joining a club/group sharing your interests.
16inch dolls or BJD's all fit within the Sybarite guidelines and is a good place to start. It was joining clubs like this last year which got me to where I am today collecting Sybarites.
I asked for a payment plan to adopt Seville from 2 prior collectors who kindly declined. Understanding and patient my love for this doll and ownership has become a reality.
